Company Overview

Target Corporation is a general merchandise retailer that operates as a single segment designed to enable guests to purchase products seamlessly in stores or through digital channels. The company offers a wide assortment of general merchandise and groceries, with most stores larger than 170,000 square feet offering full-line grocery selections comparable to traditional supermarkets. Approximately 30% of merchandise sales come from owned and exclusive brands including Cat & Jack, Good & Gather, Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, and others. The company generates additional revenue through advertising services (Roundel), credit card profit sharing from its Target Circle Card program, its Target Plus third-party digital marketplace, and membership fees. Target operates a network of distribution centers serving stores across the U.S., with stores fulfilling more than 97% of merchandise sales and the majority of digitally originated orders through same-day services like Order Pickup, Drive Up, and Same-Day Delivery. The company employs approximately 415,000 team members as of January 31, 2026, and has a long history of giving 5% of its profit to communities since 1946.
