The company operates a low-cost, convenient small-box retail format averaging approximately 7,500 square feet, with approximately 80% of stores located in towns of 20,000 or fewer people. Dollar General's business model emphasizes everyday low prices, convenient locations, and time-saving shopping experiences. The company also operates pOpshelf, a unique small-box retail concept focused primarily on non-consumables, and Mi Súper Dollar General stores in Mexico. Distribution is supported by strategically located distribution centers and temperature-controlled facilities for frozen and refrigerated goods, with merchandise delivered via private fleet and third-party trucking firms.
