D.R. Horton, Inc. is the largest homebuilding company in the United States as measured by number of homes closed, with 47 years of business history since 1978. The company constructs and sells homes through operating divisions in 126 markets across 36 states, providing geographic diversification. Homebuilding generates 92% of consolidated revenues, offering a broad range of homes for entry-level, move-up, active adult and luxury buyers, primarily single-family detached homes (84% of sales). The company also operates rental businesses including single-family and multi-family rental operations; owns 62% of Forestar Group Inc., a publicly traded residential lot development company; and provides mortgage financing and title agency services through DHI Mortgage and wholly owned title companies. In fiscal 2025, the company closed 84,863 homes with an average closing price of $370,400, and its rental operations closed 3,460 single-family rental homes and 2,947 multi-family rental units.
