Company Overview

CSX Corporation, based in Jacksonville, Florida, is one of the nation's leading transportation companies providing rail-based freight transportation services. The Company's principal operating subsidiary, CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT), operates approximately 20,000 route-miles of rail network serving major population centers in 26 states east of the Mississippi River, the District of Columbia, and Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. CSXT has access to over 70 ocean, river and lake port terminals. The Company's four primary lines of business are: merchandise (chemicals, agricultural and food products, automotive, minerals, forest products, metals and equipment, and fertilizers); intermodal (combining rail and truck transportation); coal (domestic coal, coke, iron ore, and export coal); and trucking (including Quality Carriers, the largest provider of bulk liquid chemicals truck transportation in North America). The Company also operates CSX Intermodal Terminals, which owns and operates intermodal terminals and provides drayage services. With approximately 23,000 employees as of December 2025, including approximately 16,900 unionized employees, CSX prioritizes workplace safety and is committed to providing customers with safe, dependable, environmentally responsible and fuel-efficient freight transportation and intermodal services.
