Ameren Corporation is a public utility holding company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, serving approximately 2.5 million electric customers and more than 900,000 natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area. The company operates through its rate-regulated utility subsidiaries: Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri) and Ameren Illinois Company (Ameren Illinois). Ameren Missouri provides electric generation, transmission and distribution service, as well as natural gas distribution service. Ameren Illinois provides electric transmission and distribution service and natural gas distribution service, but does not own any power generating assets. Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois operates a FERC rate-regulated electric transmission business in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. The company invests in rate-regulated energy infrastructure, enhances regulatory frameworks, and advocates for responsible energy policies. In 2025, Ameren invested approximately $4.1 billion in electric, natural gas and transmission infrastructure, including installing nearly 26,000 electric distribution poles, 283 miles of upgraded transmission and distribution lines, 750 smart switches and 31 new or upgraded substations. The company is committed to sustainable growth, reliability and resilience, and supporting the communities it serves through philanthropic contributions, employee volunteerism, and energy assistance programs.
