Company Overview

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is the third largest producer of containerboard products and a leading producer of uncoated freesheet (UFS) paper in North America. The company operates ten containerboard mills and 91 corrugated products plants and related facilities, headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois, operating exclusively within the United States. The Packaging segment produces linerboard and corrugating medium used in manufacturing corrugated packaging products, including conventional shipping containers, multi-color boxes and displays, and honeycomb protective packaging for meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, processed food, beverages, and other industrial and consumer products. Products are sustainable, produced from renewable raw materials with energy derived from biogenic fuels, and are recyclable. During 2025, the Packaging segment produced 5.2 million tons of containerboard at mills and sold 71 billion square feet of corrugated products. The Paper segment produces uncoated freesheet paper. On September 2, 2025, PCA completed the acquisition of Greif Inc.'s containerboard business for $1.8 billion in cash, adding two containerboard mills with approximately 800,000 tons of production capacity and eight sheet feeder and corrugated plants across the United States.
